The Sta-Rite 25021-0003 is the air bleed tube for System 3 cartridge filters, covering the S7M120, S8M150, S7M400 and S8M500 models. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part.
What it does
Air collects at the top of a filter tank every time the system is opened or the pump loses prime. The bleed tube is the path that air takes from inside the tank out through the relief valve. Without it, the air stays where it is and the filter runs with a pocket of air that hurts flow and makes the tank noisy.
Fitting
The tube is reached with the filter lid off, which is the right moment to look over the lid o-ring and the relief valve as well. All three work together, and replacing only one of a set of tired parts often means opening the filter again a month later.
