The Sta-Rite 24850-0200 is the clamp assembly for System 3 filters. It holds the two halves of the filter body together against operating pressure.

What it fits

Sta-Rite lists this clamp for the System 3 S7S50 and S8S70 sand filters, and for the S7M120, S8M150, S7M400 and S8M500 cartridge filters.

Why it is a safety part

A filter runs under pressure, and the clamp is the only thing holding the tank closed. Rust, a band that has been overtightened and stretched, or hardware that has lost its thread all reduce the grip. A clamp in that condition should be replaced rather than cranked down harder. Since the tank has to come apart to fit it, replace the tank o-ring at the same time.

Which filters does this clamp fit?

Is this the whole clamp?
Yes. It is supplied as the clamp assembly.
Why does a filter clamp need replacing?
It is the part holding a pressure vessel closed. Corrosion, a stretched band or damaged hardware can let the halves separate under pressure, so a clamp in poor condition should be changed rather than retightened.
Does the tank o-ring come with it?
No. The filter tank o-ring is a separate part and is worth replacing at the same time, since the tank has to come apart either way.
