Product details
The C1-270PC is the Sta-Rite diffuser for 1 HP Dyna-Glas, Dyna-Max and Dyna-Jet pumps. It is the molded piece that sits directly in front of the impeller inside the wet end.
What the diffuser does
The diffuser guides water off the impeller and forms the divide between the suction side and the pressure side of the pump. It has to sit close to the impeller face to hold that divide. Once it is cracked, warped by a run without water, or worn oversize where the impeller enters it, water loops back to the suction side instead of heading out to the filter. The pump sounds normal and primes normally, but filter pressure and return flow are both down.
Match it to the impeller
A diffuser is sized to the impeller it runs against, so a 1 HP diffuser belongs with a 1 HP impeller. If the impeller is also scored or has worn vanes, replace the pair while the pump is open. They wear from the same grit and doing them together saves a second teardown.
What is in the box
The diffuser only. Its o-ring, the cap screws and the extended tooth lock washers are separate Sta-Rite parts, so it is worth checking those while the wet end is apart.
