Product details
The Jandy R0480300 is the backplate o-ring for the FloPro FHPF and FHPM series and the VS FloPro series pumps. It is the genuine Jandy part.
What it seals
The o-ring sits in the joint where the pump body meets the backplate. On the suction side of the system that joint is holding vacuum, not pressure, so a ring that has hardened or taken a set pulls air into the pump instead of dripping water out. The result looks like a priming problem: bubbles in the lid, a basket that never fills, weak flow at the returns.
When to change it
Any time the pump is opened. The backplate has to come off to reach the shaft seal, and a used o-ring that has spent years compressed in its groove will not reseat the way a fresh one does. Wipe the groove clean, fit the new ring dry or with a silicone lubricant, and draw the band or bolts up evenly.
