The Jandy R0449200 is the tail piece O-ring used on the MaxHP, PlusHP and WaterFeature series pumps. It is the genuine Jandy part for that joint.
What it seals
The tail piece is the fitting that carries water between the pump and the pool plumbing. The O-ring is the only thing holding that joint watertight. On the suction side a tired ring rarely drips much; instead it draws air, and the pump holds a bubble in the lid, loses prime and moves less water. On the pressure side it simply weeps.
Fitting it
Clean the groove and the mating face before the new ring goes in, and wipe on a thin film of pool grade silicone lubricant so it seats evenly rather than rolling. If the pump is already apart for another repair, this is a sensible ring to renew while access is easy.
