Matched to horsepower

An impeller is machined for a particular horsepower rating. It is not a generic part that suits every pump in the family, so the 3 HP figure has to match the pump you are working on. Jandy lists this kit for the Stealth series SHPF and SHPM pumps in the SHP and PlusHP line.

Signs of a failing impeller

Flow that has dropped off, a skimmer that no longer pulls and a pump that runs but moves little water are the usual symptoms once the basket, the lid o-ring and the filter have been ruled out. Debris packed into the vanes, worn edges or a cracked shroud all cost flow. Since the impeller comes off during the same teardown as the shaft seal, it is worth inspecting the seal at the same time.
