Product details
The Jandy R0515400 is the impeller screw with O-ring used across most of the Jandy pump line. It is a 1/4 inch by 20 screw, one inch long, with a reverse thread, and it ships with the O-ring that seals it.
Why the reverse thread matters
The impeller turns constantly while the pump runs. A conventional right hand thread in that position tends to back itself off, so Jandy specifies a left hand, reverse thread screw. That is the single reason a similar looking fastener from a hardware bin is not a substitute, and it is also why the screw comes off the opposite way to what most people expect.
When you need it
Anyone pulling an impeller for a seal change, a clog or a wear inspection is handling this screw, and it is common for the head to be chewed or the O-ring to be flattened by the time it comes out. Replacing both while the pump is open is cheap insurance against a leak path at the impeller.
