Product details

The Jandy R0479400 is the Pro Series mechanical shaft seal, a carbon and ceramic pair with a 5/8 in. inside diameter on the ceramic. It is the genuine Jandy part for Stealth SHPF and SHPM pumps from serial number P08FF0001 onward, for the Zodiac Jandy ePump JEP variable speed pumps, and for the Flo Pro FHPM and VS-FHP variable speed models.

5/8 in. or 13/16 in.

Stealth pumps changed shafts partway through production. Revision N and earlier impellers sat on a double stepped shaft and need a seal with a 13/16 in. inside diameter on the ceramic. Revision P and later have no step where the impeller mounts, and those pumps take this 5/8 in. seal. Check the revision or measure the shaft before ordering.

When to replace it

The shaft seal is what keeps pool water out of the motor. Replace it every time the impeller comes off, and any time water weeps from the joint between the pump body and the motor. It is a small part that saves a motor.

How do I know whether my Stealth takes the 5/8 in. or the 13/16 in. seal?
Look at the motor shaft where the impeller mounts. Revision P and higher have no step on the shaft and take this 5/8 in. seal. Revision N and lower have a double stepped shaft and take the 13/16 in. seal, sold separately. Stealth pumps from serial number P08FF0001 onward use this one.
Which pumps does it fit?
Jandy Stealth SHPF and SHPM pumps from serial P08FF0001, the Zodiac Jandy ePump JEP variable speed, and the Flo Pro FHPM and VS-FHP variable speed pumps.
When should the shaft seal be replaced?
Any time the impeller is removed or replaced, and whenever water drips from between the pump body and the motor. A worn seal lets water reach the motor bearings.
Is this the carbon and ceramic style?
Yes. One half is carbon, the other is ceramic, and the ceramic half has the 5/8 in. inside diameter.
