Jandy Pump Lid Seal Gasket with O-Ring

The Jandy R0449100 kit replaces both sealing parts under the strainer lid on PlusHP, MaxHP and WaterFeature pumps: the lid seal gasket, which has a rectangular cross section, and the round o-ring. When a pump starts drawing air at the lid, these two parts are the fix.

Fit

PlusHP PHPF and PHPM, MaxHP MHPM and WaterFeature WFTR series pumps. The o-ring measures roughly 6-3/16 in. outside, 5-13/16 in. inside and 3/16 in. thick. The seal is roughly 6-1/8 in. outside, 5-3/8 in. inside and 3/8 in. front to back. Jandy gives these as approximate figures, so use them to confirm you have the right family of pump rather than as exact machining dimensions.

Symptoms of a worn seal

Bubbles collecting under the clear lid while the pump runs, a pump that takes longer and longer to prime, or a lid you have to crank down harder each season to stop the hiss. Any of those points to the lid seal, and a new seal and o-ring are far cheaper than a lock ring cracked from overtightening.

Installing

Clean the lid groove and the housing face, seat the new seal and o-ring dry or with a light film of silicone based lubricant, and tighten the lid by hand.
