Jandy R0479701 is the replacement diffuser for Flo Pro FHPM pumps rated from 1.5 to 2.5 HP. It ships as a set: the diffuser, its o-ring and the mounting screw.
What the diffuser does
The diffuser sits directly over the impeller and holds a tight clearance against it. That clearance is what converts the impeller spin into pressure instead of letting water churn in the volute. Wear the clearance out, and the pump keeps running while flow and head both fall away.
Signs it is due
Reduced flow at the returns, a filter that no longer builds pressure the way it used to, or visible scoring and cracking around the diffuser throat all point the same direction. Because the impeller runs inside it, check both parts while the wet end is open.
Fitting
The o-ring and screw come in the box, so the diffuser can go straight back in once the old one is out. Lubricate the o-ring before reassembly and seat the screw evenly.
