Product details

The Jandy R0479604 is the 2 HP impeller kit for the FHPF pump. It arrives as the impeller with its screw and o-ring, which is everything needed to mount it on the shaft.

Impellers are horsepower specific

The impeller is matched to the motor it runs behind. This kit is the 2 HP part, so it goes on a 2 HP pump. Fitting an impeller from another horsepower changes what the pump does to the system and is not a substitution worth making.

Why an impeller gets changed

Two reasons dominate. The first is wear, where flow drops away slowly over years even though the motor sounds fine and the basket and filter are clean. The second is damage, where something has been drawn through the pump and broken the vanes. In either case the impeller can no longer do the work the motor is asking of it.

While the pump is open

The mechanical seal is a separate part. Most people fit a new seal at the same time rather than open the pump twice.

What comes in the kit?
The impeller, the impeller screw and the o-ring.
Will it fit a different horsepower FloPro?
No. Impellers are sized to the motor. This is the 2 HP impeller, so it belongs on a 2 HP pump.
Is the mechanical seal included?
No. The seal is a separate Jandy part, and it is standard practice to replace the seal while the pump is apart for an impeller.
How do I know the impeller is the problem?
Weak flow with a clean basket and a clean filter, a rattle or grinding noise, or visible cracked and worn vanes when the pump is opened. Debris drawn through a pump chips the vanes, and once the vane edges are gone the impeller cannot move the water it was rated for.
