Jandy R0446400 is the tail piece o-ring, supplied as a set of two. It seals the union tail pieces on Jandy pumps.
Where it sits
Every Jandy pump connects to the plumbing through unions. The tail piece threads into the pipe, the nut pulls it up against the pump port, and this o-ring is the only thing making that joint watertight. Because there is one at the suction side and one at the discharge, Jandy sells the o-ring in pairs.
When to change it
A union that weeps or drips at the nut is almost always an o-ring problem, not a tightness problem. Once the rubber has hardened, cracked or taken a permanent flat spot, tightening the nut harder just distorts it further. Back the union off, pull the old o-ring, wipe the groove clean, fit the new one with a pool grade lubricant and hand tighten the nut.
