The Sta-Rite C1-270P is the genuine diffuser for 1.5 HP and 2 HP Dyna-Glas and Dyna-Max pool pumps. It is the plastic housing that sits directly over the impeller inside the pump volute.
Why the diffuser matters
An impeller throws water outward at speed. On its own that is turbulence, not useful flow. The diffuser captures that water in a shaped passage and turns velocity into pressure, which is what pushes water through the filter and back to the pool. When the diffuser cracks, or when its face wears where it runs close to the impeller, water simply recirculates inside the pump. The result looks like a filter problem: weak returns, poor skimming and a pump that runs hot for nothing.
