The Pentair PP3000 is a Parts-Paks seal and gasket kit listed for MPRA and MPEA pumps in all horsepower ratings. It packages the seal and gaskets a pump needs when it is opened for a seal change.

What the kit is for

A pool pump keeps water out of the motor with a shaft seal running between the wet end and the motor shaft. That seal wears, and when it goes the first sign is usually a drip or a wet patch under the pump rather than a dramatic failure. Left alone, the water finds the motor bearings, and a cheap seal job turns into a motor replacement.

Why gaskets come with it

Getting to the seal means separating the housing, which disturbs the gaskets. Compressed gaskets take a set and seldom seal as well the second time, so they belong in the same job as the seal itself. That is the logic behind selling them as one kit rather than as separate parts.

My pump drips from under the motor, is this the right part?
Water appearing between the motor and the wet end is the classic shaft seal symptom. A seal and gasket kit is the standard repair, and doing it before the motor bearings take the water is the point.
Should I replace the gaskets even if they look fine?
Yes. Gaskets take a set once compressed and rarely seal properly the second time. They are in the kit because they are meant to be changed with the seal.
