Product details

The Pentair 073131Z is the genuine 3 hp impeller for the WhisperFlo WFE-12 and the IntelliFlo VS, VS 3050, VS+SVRS and VF pumps. One part number covers both pump lines because they share the same wet end at 3 hp.

When to replace

Reduced flow at the same speed, a rattle from the wet end, or a broken vane found when the pump is opened for a seal change all point to the impeller. Debris drawn past the basket is the usual cause of vane damage.

Do the seal at the same time

Getting to the impeller means pulling the seal plate, so the shaft seal and the seal and gasket kit should be replaced in the same visit. The impeller screw is a left hand thread, 1/4-20 x 1, and is a separate part. The 3 hp diffuser assembly is also separate and worth inspecting while the pump is apart.

Which pumps use this impeller?
The 3 hp WhisperFlo WFE-12, and the IntelliFlo VS, VS 3050, VS+SVRS and VF variable speed and variable flow pumps.
Is the impeller screw included?
The impeller screw is a separate part, a 1/4-20 x 1 left hand thread screw. Left hand means it loosens clockwise, which catches people out on the first pump.
What else should I replace while the pump is apart?
The shaft seal, and the o-rings and gaskets in the WhisperFlo/IntelliFlo seal and gasket kit. A worn diffuser is also worth checking; the 3 hp diffuser assembly is a separate part.
