The Pentair 070795 is the clear Lexan strainer cover for Purex Triton WhisperFlo and Aquatron pumps built before November 1998. It is the genuine Pentair part.

Check the clamp, not the model name

This lid is only compatible with the older metal clamp style assembly. It will not work with the newer cam and ramp lock ring. That distinction matters more than the model badge on the pump, because the same families were built both ways across the changeover. Look at how the lid is held down before you order: a metal band around the lid means this part, a plastic twist ring means the later design.

Why it is worth replacing

Lexan is tough and stays clear, which is the point of a see through lid: you can check the strainer basket at a glance instead of shutting the pump down to look. Over years of sun and heat the lid crazes, warps or cracks, and once it stops sealing evenly against the o-ring the pump pulls air, loses prime and runs noisy.

Replace the cover o-ring at the same time. It is a separate part, it hardens with age, and a tired o-ring produces the same symptoms as a failed lid.
