Pentair 070711 is the stainless steel clamp band assembly for the old style clamp lid, used on WhisperFlo pumps built before 12/17/99. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What it does
On the older WhisperFlo the pump lid is held down by a band clamp that wraps the rim and pulls it tight against the o-ring. If the band is corroded, distorted or its hardware has seized, the lid will not pull down evenly, the pump loses prime and air is drawn into the system.
Stainless for a reason
An equipment pad is a wet, chemical heavy place, and a band clamp spends its life there. Stainless keeps the assembly serviceable and the fasteners turning far longer than a plated part would.
