The Pentair 073129Z is the 1000 Series impeller for WhisperFlo pumps, listed for the WF-6 and WF-28, WFDS-6 and WFDS-28, WFE-6 and WFE-28. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What the impeller does

The impeller is the only moving part in the wet end. It converts motor rotation into flow, so its condition sets what the pump can actually deliver. Wear happens slowly, and a pebble or a piece of debris lodged in a vane does the rest, which is why a pump can sound completely healthy while the returns have gone soft and the heater or cleaner starts complaining about flow.

Horsepower listing

The listing title gives this as the 1.5 HP impeller, and the manufacturer description says it covers 1.5 and 2 HP models. We have carried both readings rather than choose one. Check 073129Z against the parts diagram for your own WhisperFlo before ordering.

Fitting

Getting to the impeller means opening the pump, so have a shaft seal and the housing gaskets ready. Replacing those while the pump is apart costs very little and saves doing the same job twice.

Why is my pump moving less water?
