The Pentair 357157 is the black volute replacement housing for the WhisperFlo WFE pump and pot. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What the volute does
The volute is the molded body that surrounds the impeller. The impeller flings water outward, the volute catches it in a widening passage and turns that velocity into pressure, and the discharge port sends it on to the filter. Because every drop the pump moves passes through it, a damaged volute shows up immediately as lost flow, a leak at the split line, or a pump that will not prime.
When you need one
Volutes crack from freeze damage, from running dry, and from over tightened clamps. A split or warped housing cannot be sealed back up, so the fix is a new one. This is the housing by itself, so plan to reuse or separately order the impeller, the gaskets and the strainer pot.

This is the black version. The same casing is offered in almond under a different part number if that is what your pump was built with.
