Quick overview

  • Pentair part 350199 The factory seal plate kit, supplied in the ozone and salt resistant version.
  • Built for salt and ozone The resistant version exists because standard seal plates corrode faster on salt chlorinated and ozone treated pools.
  • Fits WhisperFlo and IntelliFlo Listed for Pentair WhisperFlo and IntelliFlo variable speed pumps.
  • Sold as a kit Supplied as a kit rather than as a bare plate.
  • Where the motor meets the wet end The seal plate is the divider the shaft seal rides in, so it takes both the heat and the water.
  • Genuine Pentair The OEM part, not a generic seal plate of approximate fit.

Product details

The Pentair 350199 is a seal plate kit in the ozone and salt resistant specification, listed in almond, for WhisperFlo and IntelliFlo variable speed pumps.

What the seal plate does

The seal plate is the wall between the motor and the wet end. The motor shaft passes through it, and the mechanical shaft seal sits in its bore. Everything about the part is a compromise between heat on one side and chlorinated water on the other, which is why it wears in ways the rest of the pump does not.

Why the resistant version

Salt chlorinated pools and ozone systems are harder on pump components than a conventional chlorine pool. Pentair offers this ozone and salt resistant seal plate for those installations. If your pump is on a salt system, matching the part to it is the difference between a repair that lasts and one you repeat.

Before you order

Replacing the shaft seal without checking the plate is a common mistake. If the seal bore is scored, corroded or the plate is cracked, a new shaft seal will not seat properly and the pump will leak again within the season.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What is a seal plate?
It is the plate between the motor and the wet end of the pump. The shaft passes through it and the mechanical shaft seal sits in it, so it separates the water from the motor.
Why the ozone and salt resistant version?
Salt chlorinated water and ozone are hard on pump components. The resistant version is specified for those systems, where a standard seal plate degrades faster.
Which pumps does it fit?
Pentair WhisperFlo and IntelliFlo variable speed pumps.
When does a seal plate need replacing?
When it is cracked, warped or badly corroded around the seal bore. A plate in that condition will not hold a new shaft seal, so replacing only the seal leaves you leaking again.
