Product details

The Pentair 356174Z is the strainer pot kit for the IntelliFlo3 VSF 1.5 HP pump. It is the genuine Pentair part for the housing that holds the strainer basket ahead of the impeller.

What the pot does

Every bit of water going into the pump passes through the strainer pot first, where the basket catches leaves and debris before they reach the impeller. It is also the part that has to hold prime, so a pot with even a hairline crack will pull air and leave the pump struggling to catch suction.

Why they fail

Freeze damage is the usual cause. Water left standing in the pot over a cold night expands and splits the housing. Over tightening a union against the pot and long term sun exposure do the rest. On a variable speed pump the pot is worth replacing on its own rather than writing off the whole unit.

This is supplied as a kit for the 1.5 HP IntelliFlo3 VSF, so check the horsepower on your pump before ordering.
