Product details

The Jandy R0479500 is the genuine backplate kit for the FloPro line of pumps. It fits the FHPM series from 0.75 through 2.5 HP, the FHPF series and the VS FloPro, and it comes with the three parts the job needs: the backplate, the o-ring that seals it to the housing, and a new shaft seal.

Why the kit

The backplate is the seal plate that sits between the motor and the wet end. When it cracks or warps, water leaks out behind the impeller and air gets drawn in, which shows up as a drip under the motor or bubbles in the basket that no suction side fix will cure. The shaft seal lives in the same plate and is the pump's main wear item, so Jandy packs a fresh one with the plate rather than have you reuse a seal that has already run.

Fit

The plate mounts in place of the original with the pump apart at the housing clamp. It covers the whole FHPM horsepower range and the VS FloPro, so one part number serves most FloPro installations.

How do I know the backplate is the problem?
Water dripping from behind the motor where it meets the pump, or air in the pump basket that cannot be traced to the suction side, usually points to a failed shaft seal or a cracked backplate. This kit replaces both.
