Product details

Val-Pak V20-322 is the compression ring for Purex SM and SMBW 2000 series backwash valves.

Where it sits

The compression ring carries the clamping load inside the valve. As the valve is drawn down, the ring is what keeps steady pressure on the sealing surfaces, so a ring that has cracked or deformed shows up as a valve that will not seal no matter how far it is tightened.

Doing the job once

Getting to this ring means opening the valve, which is the same access needed for the rotor and its seal. Look at those while the valve is apart rather than going back in a season later.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which valve is this for?
The Purex SM and SMBW 2000 series backwash valve.
What is the part number?
Val-Pak V20-322.
What does the compression ring do?
It takes the load as the valve is drawn down, which is what holds the sealing surfaces together.
Should anything else be replaced with it?
If the valve is open anyway, look at the rotor and its seal, since those are the other wear items in the same assembly.
