The Hayward SPX0410BA is the internal handle and piston assembly for the SP0410 slide backwash valve, the push pull valve fitted to Hayward DE and sand filters. It is the genuine Hayward part, supplied as one assembly.

When you need it

A slide valve that pushes water out of the waste line while the system is in filter mode has worn piston seals. So does a valve that has become stiff or gritty to pull. Both are cured by replacing the internal rather than the whole valve, provided the body and the unions are still sound.

Know which valve you have

This part is for the slide valve, the one you pull up and push down. If your filter has a lever that rotates through named positions such as filter, backwash and rinse, that is a multiport and it takes an entirely different set of parts. No. SPX0410BA is the internal for the SP0410 push pull slide valve. Multiport valves use a rotating key and spider gasket instead, which is a different repair entirely.
