Product details

The Pentair 263055 is the piston shaft assembly for Pentair slide valves, covering models 263064, 263053, 263052, 263078 and 263079. It is the genuine OEM part, supplied as a complete assembly.

What it does

A push pull valve works by sliding a piston up and down inside the body. In one position water runs through the filter, in the other it runs to waste for backwashing. The piston shaft is the part that moves, and the seals riding on it are what stop water crossing between the two paths.

The symptom to look for

If the valve keeps sending water to waste while set to filter, or you lose pressure that you cannot account for, the piston shaft is the first suspect. Wear grooves and scoring on the shaft mean the seals no longer have a clean surface to close against. Because the valve has to be opened up anyway, the o-ring kit for the push pull valve is worth ordering at the same time.

Do the o-rings come with it?
No. The push pull valve o-ring kit is a separate Pentair part. Since the valve has to come apart either way, most people replace both together.
My valve leaks to waste when set to filter. Is this the part?
Often yes. A piston shaft that is scored or worn will not seal against the ports, so water keeps bleeding to waste. Check the o-rings on the shaft as well before deciding.
