Pentair 170026 is the top manifold for the 240 square foot Clean and Clear Plus cartridge filter, in the version used on units built after 11/98. It is the genuine Pentair part, molded in plastic like the original.

What the top manifold does

The manifold sits over the cartridge stack, holds the elements in position and carries filtered water across to the tank outlet. Because every drop that leaves the filter passes through it, a crack in the manifold sends unfiltered water straight out to the pool. Owners usually chase the cartridges first and only find the split when the tank comes apart.
