Product details

The Pentair 178733Z is the genuine threaded half union kit for the Clean and Clear RP cartridge filter, the separation tank, and the Sta-Rite Posi-Clear RP filter. It is supplied as a pair, so both plumbing connections can be renewed in one go.

What is in the kit

Two threaded half unions, two union nut C clips and two union diamond seals. The C clip is the small retainer that holds the union nut captive on the body, and the diamond seal is the face seal that does the actual sealing when the nut is drawn up.

When to replace

A union that keeps dripping after it has been snugged down is telling you the seal face is done. Overtightening a tired seal only distorts it further and can crack the nut. Fitting a fresh union with a new seal restores a leak free joint at hand tightness, which is how these are meant to be assembled.
