Product details

The Pentair 071426Z is the rubber union o-ring that seals the union nut where PVC plumbing connects to the filter. It is the genuine Pentair part.

Why it fails

The union o-ring lives between hot water, sanitizer and system pressure. Over the years it takes a set, goes hard, then flattens or cracks. The result is a steady drip at the union that does not stop no matter how hard the nut is tightened, and tightening harder usually makes it worse.

Where it is used

Pentair lists this o-ring across a wide spread of equipment, including Clean and Clear and Predator filters, SM and SMBW 2000 Series backwash valves, the aboveground Clean and Clear and EasyClean DE systems, Purex Tahitian sand filters, and Jacuzzi Earthworks DE filters. Because it turns up in so many breakdowns it is a sensible spare to keep on hand.
