Product details

The Pentair 51005000 is the o-ring for the drain cap fitting, the small seal that keeps the bottom of the filter tank dry. It is the genuine Pentair part.

Where it is used

Pentair lists it across a wide range of filters: the Clean and Clear Plus and Predator cartridge filters, the EasyClean aboveground DE filter system, the American Products Quantum RPM cartridge and Eclipse Meteor top mount filters, and ABS 2 in push pull valves.

Why it fails

O-rings dry out, flatten and crack. A drain cap that weeps as soon as the pump comes up to pressure is almost always the seal rather than the cap, and this is one of the least expensive parts on the equipment pad. It is worth keeping a spare on the shelf so a small drip never turns into a lost weekend.
