The SuperPro 200V-9 is a Viton shaft seal built to the Seal 200 (PS-200) pattern, one of the most common shaft seal footprints in pool pumps. It is supplied as a set, with a rotating half and a polished seat already mounted in its cup.
Why Viton
The elastomer is what usually decides how long a shaft seal lasts. Viton holds up better against heat and aggressive water chemistry than a standard seal, so it is the sensible upgrade on a pump that has chewed through more than one seal, or one that runs hot.
Before you order
This seal is sized for a 5/8 inch shaft. Pull the motor and measure the shaft rather than guessing, because the 200 series is produced in more than one shaft size and the wrong one will not seat.
A shaft seal is the part that keeps water in the wet end and out of the motor. If water is tracking down the back of the pump while the lid and the unions stay dry, this is the part to change, and it is worth doing before the bearings take the damage.
