Pentair 351446 is the genuine seal plate o-ring for the WhisperFlo XF pump. It seals the joint where the seal plate meets the volute, which is the seam that opens up whenever the wet end is split for service.
What a failed ring looks like
Water running from the middle of the pump body, between the motor end and the strainer housing, is the classic sign. Heat, chlorine and age harden the rubber until it takes a permanent set and no longer springs back against the sealing face, and once that happens the leak will not tighten out.
Fit a new one every time
An o-ring that has been compressed for a season or two should not go back in. If you are already inside the pump for a shaft seal, an impeller or a diffuser, replace this ring while it is exposed. It is the least expensive part of the job and the most likely to cause a callback if it is reused.
