The Pentair 350336Z is the diffuser o-ring for the WhisperFlo XF and IntelliFlo XF variable speed pumps. It is a size 2-336 ring, supplied as the genuine Pentair part.
Where it goes
The ring seals the diffuser inside the pump. It has to come off any time the pump is opened, which usually means an impeller change, a shaft seal job or a strip down after the pump has run dry. Rubber that has been heat cycled for years hardens and takes a permanent set, and once that happens it no longer seals against the mating face, so water bypasses the diffuser instead of being pushed through it.
It is a low cost part in the middle of a job that is not worth doing twice, so it is normally replaced on sight rather than inspected. The seal plate o-ring on these pumps is a separate Pentair part and is worth ordering at the same time.
