The part everyone reuses once too often
Drain plugs come out at every winterization and go back in every spring, and the gasket is crushed a little further each time. Eventually it stops sealing. On the pressure side that shows up as a drip. On the suction side it shows up as a pump that will not prime, or one that primes and then loses it, because the plug is drawing air rather than leaking water.
Worth having spares
The gasket is small enough to disappear into the gravel at the equipment pad, and a pump with two drain plugs needs two. Buying a couple more than the job calls for costs very little and saves a second trip.
