The Sta-Rite C20-19 is the volute gasket for the Max-E-Glas and Dura-Glas pumps. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part, listed on both of those parts diagrams.
What it seals
The gasket sits between the volute and the pump body. Because it is on the suction side of the pump, a failure here does not simply drip on the pad. It lets air in, and an air leak shows up as bubbles in the basket, a noisy pump and a system that will not hold prime.
When to change it
Any time the pump comes apart. Gaskets take a permanent set under years of clamping, and once an old one is disturbed it rarely reseals. Clean both mating faces so the new gasket beds down flat and evenly all the way around before the housing goes back together.
