Product details

The Sta-Rite C8-58P is the trap basket for the Max-E-Pro pump. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part, and it also turns up under the Sta-Rite Dyna-Pro and Dyna-Pro E and the Pentair Pinnacle pump parts listings.

What it does

The trap basket sits in the strainer pot ahead of the impeller and catches leaves, bugs and larger debris before they can reach the vanes. Everything the basket stops is something that does not end up jammed in the impeller or the seal.

When to replace it

Baskets go brittle with age and chemicals, and the handle or the rim usually goes first. Once there is a crack or a broken section, debris passes straight through, so it is worth replacing rather than working around. Compare the old basket with the part number before ordering, since Sta-Rite uses several sizes across its pump lines.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which pump is this basket for?
It is sold as the Max-E-Pro trap basket, part C8-58P, and it also appears under Sta-Rite Dyna-Pro and Dyna-Pro E and Pentair Pinnacle pump parts.
Is it a genuine Sta-Rite part?
Yes. It is the Sta-Rite part, number C8-58P.
Can I keep using a cracked basket?
It is not worth it. Once the basket splits, leaves and grit go straight through to the impeller, which is a far more expensive part to replace.
How do I make sure it is the right basket?
Compare it against the basket you are removing. Sta-Rite uses several basket sizes across its pump lines, so match the part number where you can.
