Pentair Max-E-Pro Strainer Trap Basket, C8-58PZ

The Pentair C8-58PZ is the strainer trap basket for Max-E-Pro pumps. It is the genuine part, moulded to sit correctly in the strainer pot.

What the basket does

Everything the skimmer misses arrives at the pump. The strainer basket catches it before it reaches the impeller, which means the basket takes all the abuse: leaves, twigs, grit and the occasional stone. Baskets go brittle with sun and chemicals and eventually split at the rim or the base.

Why a split basket is worth replacing now

A cracked basket still looks like it is doing its job while it quietly lets debris through. That debris packs into the impeller passages and starves the pump of flow, or works its way into the shaft seal. Both are bigger jobs than dropping a new basket into the pot.

While the pot is open, look at the lid o-ring. It is a separate part, and a hardened one is a common cause of a pump that will not hold prime.
