The Hayward SPX1070KHR is the skimmer weir assembly with stop pad for SP1070 series Skim-master skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic.
How a weir works
The weir is the hinged door across the skimmer throat. With the pump running, suction pulls it down just below the water line so only the top film of water spills over it, which is where the leaves, oils and dust are. That is the whole trick to surface skimming. When the pump shuts off, the weir floats back up and closes the throat, keeping everything already in the basket from washing back into the pool.

The stop pad
