Product details

The Hayward SPX1094K is the weir assembly for the SP1094 skimmer, supplied as the genuine Hayward part. It appears on the above ground and spa skimmer parts breakdown.

What the weir does

The weir is the hinged flap across the skimmer mouth. Pump flow tips it open by a small amount, and that narrow gap is what forces the skimmer to draw a thin layer off the surface instead of pulling water from below, which is where the leaves and oils actually are. When the pump stops, the weir falls shut and traps whatever the basket has already collected.

Signs it needs replacing

A weir that is cracked at the hinge, warped, or simply gone will not hold that position. The pool takes longer to clear after a windy day, and debris you saw go into the skimmer is back on the surface the next morning. Both are cheap problems to fix at this level.

Which skimmer does this fit?
The Hayward SP1094. Hayward lists SPX1094K as the weir assembly for it.
What does the weir actually do?
It is the hinged flap in the skimmer mouth. Flow holds it open just enough to pull a thin surface layer, and it closes when the pump shuts off so the debris stays inside.
Is it the whole assembly or just the flap?
It is supplied as the weir assembly.
Do I need one if mine is missing?
Running without a weir still skims, but far less effectively, and everything the skimmer caught floats back out every time the pump stops.
