The Hayward SPX1084P is the round extension collar for the SP1082, SP1083, SP1084, SP1085 and SP1086 skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic.
What it does
The collar sits between the skimmer body and the deck, raising the opening so it finishes level with the surface and giving the lid a flat, square seat. Get that wrong and the lid rocks, sits proud, or lets deck grit fall into the basket.
When to replace it
Collars crack from foot traffic, from freeze cycles, and most often during deck repairs when something heavy lands on an uncovered skimmer. A cracked or chalked collar is easy to change and instantly tidies up the look of the deck around the skimmer.
The lid is a separate part. If the collar has been damaged there is a good chance the lid took a knock at the same time, so check both while the skimmer is open.
