The Hayward SPX1099K is the weir assembly for SP1099 series front access pool and spa skimmers. It is the genuine Hayward replacement.
What a weir does
The weir is the hinged door in the mouth of the skimmer. It floats up to just below the water line and forces the surface water to speed up as it passes over, which is what pulls leaves and film in rather than letting them drift by. It also swings shut when the pump stops, so the debris already in the basket stays there instead of washing back into the pool.
When to replace it
Sun and pool chemistry make weirs brittle. When one cracks, jams or goes missing, skimming falls off noticeably and the surface starts holding debris. Fitting a new assembly brings the skimmer back without touching anything else.
