The PoolRx 331066 is the +Plus black and white pool unit with silver, sized for pools holding 20,000 to 30,000 gallons. One unit treats the pool for up to six months.
How it works
The unit is an alloy cylinder packed with a granular mineral formulation. The minerals dissolve out and hold a stable residual in the water, which controls algae and lets a low level of chlorine do more work. Every time water passes back through the cylinder during filtration the minerals are refreshed, so the effect holds across the season rather than fading after a week.
Putting one in
Clean or backwash the filter first and clear debris from the skimmer and pump basket. Drop the unit into the pump basket, or the skimmer if the basket is not practical, with at least three to four hours left on the pump run cycle so the granular formulation gets moving through the pool.
On salt pools
Salt pool owners get a second benefit. With the minerals holding algae down, the cell does not have to produce as much chlorine, which extends cell life and cuts the acid needed to keep pH in range.
