Quick overview

  • Fits all residential models Pentair lists this kit for the residential BioShield UV sterilizer across all models.
  • Genuine Pentair Factory part 523031, matched to the sealing surfaces in the BioShield body.
  • Service the seals together A kit rather than single rings, so every seal disturbed during a service goes back new.
  • Do it with the lamp change The sensible time to fit fresh o-rings is when the sleeve or lamp is already out.
  • Protects the electrics The o-rings are what keep pool water out of the lamp end of the sterilizer.
  • Consumable part Rubber hardens with heat and time, so seals are a scheduled item rather than a failure item.

Product details

The Pentair 523031 is the o-ring service kit for the residential BioShield UV sterilizer. Pentair lists it for all residential BioShield models.

What it covers

A UV sterilizer seals pool water around a quartz sleeve with the lamp running dry inside it. The o-rings are the only thing keeping those two worlds apart, and they take heat every hour the system runs. Supplying them as a kit means every seal you disturb during a service goes back new instead of being reused because it looked fine.

When to use it

Fit the kit whenever the sleeve or lamp comes out. Reusing hardened o-rings after a lamp change is the most common reason a BioShield weeps afterwards. The lamp and the quartz sleeve themselves are separate Pentair parts.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which BioShield does this fit?
Pentair lists it for the residential BioShield UV sterilizer, all models.
When should I fit new o-rings?
Any time the quartz sleeve or the lamp comes out. The seals are already disturbed at that point, and refitting old rings is the usual cause of a leak after a service.
Does the kit include the lamp or the sleeve?
No. This is the o-ring kit only. The UV lamp and the quartz sleeve are separate Pentair parts.
Is it the genuine Pentair kit?
Yes. It is Pentair part number 523031.
