Quick overview
- Total alkalinity The indicator used in the total alkalinity test, the reading that keeps pH from drifting.

- Taylor reagent Made for Taylor test kits, so the drop counts in your kit instructions hold true.
- Refill, not a kit This is the single reagent bottle, not a complete test kit.

- Store it out of the heat Reagents last longest kept cool, dry and out of direct sun, not on a shelf in the pump house.

Product details
This is the Taylor total alkalinity indicator reagent in a 2 oz. bottle. It is a refill for Taylor test kits that measure total alkalinity.
What it measures
Total alkalinity is the buffer that holds pH steady. When it drifts low, pH moves on you every time something is added to the water. When it runs high, pH gets stubborn and the water clouds. The alkalinity test is the one that tells you which of those you are dealing with, and this indicator is what produces the color change you read against.
Part numbers
Our record carries this as R-0008-C-12 and also refers to it as R-0008. Both point to the 2 oz. total alkalinity indicator.
Keeping results honest
Reagents age. Heat, light and time all pull them off their calibration, and the test gives you a clean answer either way, which is what makes an old bottle dangerous. Replacing reagents once a year and keeping them cool and dark between tests is what makes the numbers worth acting on.
