Product details

The AquaChek 542228A salt system test kit is a duo pack built for salt water pools. One bottle holds 25 yellow 4 in 1 strips, the other holds 10 white salt titrator strips, and between them they cover the five readings a salt pool is judged on.

What it tests

The yellow strips read free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity and cyanuric acid. The white titrator strips read salt as sodium chloride. Salt is the reading a standard strip pack leaves out, and it is the one a chlorine generator depends on, because a cell only produces chlorine when the salt level is where it should be.

How to use it

Test at two different ends or sides of the pool at least twice a week. On a spa, test before and after each use. Writing the numbers down each time makes a slow drift easy to catch while it is still a small correction.

Why test salt separately?
The yellow strips cover the four sanitizer and balance readings but not salt. A chlorine generator only makes chlorine when the salt level is in range, so the white titrator strips are what tell you whether the cell has what it needs.
