AquaChek White salt titrators are salt water test strips in a 40 count bottle, part number 561161. They measure salt as sodium chloride from 400 to 7,000 ppm using a small sample of pool water, and the reading takes only minutes.
Why salt level is the number that matters
On a salt pool the generator does not add chlorine, it makes chlorine from the salt already in the water. Let the salt fall and the cell cannot produce at its rated output, so sanitizer drops even though the system reports that it is running. Salt is consumed slowly, but rain, splash out, backwashing and refills all dilute it, which is why it needs checking rather than assuming.
How to use them
Dip a strip in a small sample and read the result. AquaChek recommends testing the water at each end of the pool at least twice a week, which catches both a falling level and a pool that has not mixed evenly after a salt addition.
