Quick overview

  • Ten feet of cover Enough length for a long handrail or stair rail, and it can be cut to suit a shorter run.
  • Sized for 1.9 inch rail Made for the 1.9 inch outside diameter tubing used on most pool and spa rails.
  • Royal blue One of the Koolgrips colors, so a rail can be matched to the pool or made easy to spot.
  • Covers hot metal Bare stainless in full sun gets uncomfortable to hold, and a cover puts a softer surface between hand and rail.
  • Better grip A textured cover gives more to hold onto than polished tube, which matters most on wet steps.
  • Check the rail first Measure the rail diameter before ordering, since Koolgrips covers are sold by rail size.

Product details

The Koolgrips KGS1001RB is a ten foot pool rail cover in royal blue, made for rails with a 1.9 inch outside diameter. It slips over an existing stainless handrail, stair rail or grab rail.

What it solves

A stainless rail sitting in summer sun gets hot enough that swimmers avoid touching it, and the polished surface offers very little grip once hands and feet are wet. A cover changes both at once: the surface stays cooler to hold and there is texture where there used to be none. On pool steps, where people are most likely to slip, that is worth having.

Sizing and color

Measure the diameter of your rail before ordering, since covers are sold by rail size and 1.9 inch is only the most common one. Ten feet suits a long rail or a deep stair run, and shorter Koolgrips lengths are available for smaller rails. Royal blue is one of several colors, so a rail can be blended into the pool or deliberately made easy to see.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What rail size does this fit?
Rails with a 1.9 inch outside diameter, which is the common size for pool handrails, stair rails and grab rails.
How long is it?
Ten feet. Koolgrips also make this cover in 2, 4, 6 and 8 foot lengths for shorter rails.
What color is this one?
Royal blue.
Why cover a stainless rail at all?
Polished stainless heats up in direct sun and is slick when wet. A cover keeps the rail cooler to touch and gives a better hold going in and out of the pool.
