The S.R. Smith 3HR-4-049-TP is a 4 ft 3-bend stair rail for pool steps and sloped entries, finished in taupe powder coat over stainless steel and bent from 1.90 in. OD tubing with a .049 in. wall.

Size and fit

S.R. Smith sets the legs of the 3HR-4 48 in. apart and builds it to span a 26 in. drop from the upper deck to the lower anchor. The top of the rail stands 32 in. above the upper deck and runs level for 18 in. before it turns down, and all three bends are formed on a 6 in. radius. The rail comes in seven lengths from 4 ft to 8 ft, so measure the steps before settling on the 4 ft size.

Reading the part number

3HR-4 is the 4 ft 3-bend rail. The -049 is the .049 in. wall; S.R. Smith also builds this rail with a .065 in. wall. The -TP is the taupe powder coat, which adds a protective finish over the steel. S.R. Smith marks its 316L marine grade rails with -MG, and the standard rail is type 304 stainless.

Will the 4 ft rail fit my pool steps?
The S.R. Smith 3HR-4-049-TP has its legs 48 in. apart and is built for a 26 in. drop from the upper deck to the lower anchor, with the top of the rail 32 in. above the upper deck. Steps with a longer run need one of the longer 3HR sizes, which go up to 8 ft.
What do 049 and TP mean in 3HR-4-049-TP?
3HR-4 is the S.R. Smith 4 ft 3-bend rail, 049 is the .049 in. wall and TP is the taupe powder coat. S.R. Smith marks its 316L marine grade rails with -MG, which this part number does not carry.
