The Maytronics 9991459-R1 is the spring filter basket, a filter canister supplied with spring filters already fitted. It is the genuine Maytronics part and it is listed for the Dolphin S50 and the Nautilus CC.

What the spring filter is for

Dolphin cleaners take more than one grade of filter media. The spring type is the coarser of the options, aimed at leaves and general debris rather than the fine silt an ultra fine cartridge is built for. Which one to run depends on what your pool actually collects through the season.

Living with it

The canister comes out of the cleaner as one piece, gets rinsed and drops back in. Nothing needs dismantling between runs. Replace rather than rinse once the media is torn or permanently loaded, because a filter that cannot hold what it collects simply returns it to the pool on the next cycle.

How is it different from the ultra fine filter?
This is the spring filter version, the coarser option. Maytronics sells the ultra fine filter as a separate kit.
When should I replace it rather than rinse it?
When the media is torn, or when a rinse no longer clears it and the cleaner starts leaving debris behind. A filter that cannot hold what it picks up puts the dirt back in the pool.
