Haviland pH Down is a dry pH decreaser for spas and hot tubs, supplied in a 24 ounce container. It brings high pH back down into the range the rest of your water chemistry depends on.
Dosing
With pH between 7.2 and 8.0, add 1/4 ounce, roughly 2 teaspoons, for every 500 gallons of water. If pH has climbed above 8.0, use 1/2 ounce, roughly 4 teaspoons, per 500 gallons. Turn the circulation on first and add the product straight to the water.
Then retest
Circulate for 15 to 30 minutes and test again. If the reading is still above 7.6, repeat the dose and retest until pH settles between 7.2 and 7.6. Getting there in steps is better than overshooting, because pushing pH too low is its own problem to correct.
Handling
Never mix different products together in the same bottle or pail. Each chemical goes into the water on its own. Test the water often through the week so pH is nudged rather than hauled back from an extreme.
