Product details

This is a one pound bottle of pH Up, a sodium carbonate balancer used to raise the pH of swimming pool and spa water.

When to use it

Water that drifts low on pH turns aggressive. It stings eyes and skin, it works away at plaster, grout and metal parts, and it burns through chlorine faster than it should. pH Up brings the reading back into the range where sanitizer does its job and the water stops attacking the pool.

Dosing

One pound moves pH from 6.6 to 7.2 in 10,000 gallons of water. Scale from there for your own volume, add it with the pump running so it disperses, and test again before adding more.

Keep the bottle closed and dry between uses.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How much do I add?
One pound moves pH from 6.6 to 7.2 in 10,000 gallons. Scale that to your own volume and to how far off your reading is.
What is in it?
Sodium carbonate, which is the standard pH increaser for pool and spa water.
Can I use it in a spa?
Yes. It is listed for swimming pools and spas.
Why does low pH matter?
Water on the low side of the range is aggressive. It irritates eyes and skin, attacks plaster, grout and metal components, and consumes chlorine faster than it should.
